Large housing development on former college site in Newcastle set to get the go-ahead
A planning application submitted by property developer Bellway Homes for building 121 homes on the former Walker Technology College site in Newcastle is likely to be approved following a positive report received from the council’s planning bosses.
Bellway intends to build 30 two-bedroom semidetached and terraced houses, 60 three-bedroom semidetached and detached houses and 31 four-bedroom semidetached and detached houses in total, as well as 267 car parking spaces and open spaces for public use on the 8-acre site it has earmarked for the development.
Despite some strong opposition from local residents, council members and even the local MP, the scheme is due to go before Newcastle City Council later this month. Ahead of the meeting, however, the local authority’s head of development management has compiled a report recommending the project should be approved.
Development projects of this type typically involve a large number of contractors and sub-contractors, and this is specifically the reason why any construction company that will take on the task of carrying out the works should either have in place or implement a solid and reliable time and attendance and access control solution. This is exactly where Time & Attendance North East can put its experience to very good use.
