Work starts on £15m Northumberland development

Construction work has started on a £15m holiday resort development in Northumberland that, when finished, will create in excess of 60 jobs in the region, a recent news report on the matter was able to reveal.

As part of the Northumbrian Hills project, 50 four-star cottages will be built on a site set within Burgham Park Golf Club near Felton.

The first phase of the project will see the first eight cottages being built, all of which have already been bought for £235,000 each.

Developer William Kiely said: "The interest in the resort has been phenomenal. People from all over the UK seem to want their own piece of Northumberland.

"As well as holidaying here, the cottages offer great rental opportunity, which is very appealing to many and is undoubtedly great for the region."

The first eight units will be finished by early February, with the remaining cottages being built as contracts are exchanged.

There are two further phases to the development. The second phase will involve a luxury pavilion being erected, which will house fine dining restaurants, bars, functions rooms and a pool, while the third phase will be the creation of a "world-class" golf academy.
