Retailer creates 100 new jobs in Sunderland

A major retail chain has created 100 new jobs in Sunderland after opening a new store in the area, a news report in the local business media was able to reveal.

The Range will stock more than 65,000 products, which will be opened by mayor of Sunderland councillor Stuart Porthouse alongside Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range.

The 100 jobs will be a range of positions from sales assistants and store managers.

"Our continued success is hugely due to the fantastic teams that we employ and we are confident that the new Sunderland employees will add to our success," said Dawson, adding that he believes Sunderland was the "perfect location" for the store.

Dawson also said he hopes the shop would become an "integral part of the community".

The Range reported revenue soaring by almost £90m recently thanks to a spate of new store opening across the UK.
