Plans submitted for £20m housing project in County Durham
Plans for a new residential development in County Durham that would include 200 new homes could have a potentially positive effect on the local employment and economy, developers have argued.
It is proposed that a 20.9-acre site of open agricultural land in Darlington be transformed into a residential area and outline planning permission is being sought to build up to 200 homes of which 160 would be affordable housing.
Should the proposal be given the go-ahead, it is expected to create about 300 jobs.
"In investment terms alone, the proposed development of up to 200 dwellings is likely to result in a total capital investment of between £18m and £20m representing a large injection of private sector funding into the local economy," the proposal said.
Plus, the developers believe that the expenditure generated by new residents will help to support economic activity within the local area, including businesses providing household goods and services, transport service providers.
Development projects of this type typically involve a large number of contractors and sub-contractors, and this is specifically the reason why any construction company that will take on the task of carrying out the works should either have in place or implement a solid and reliable time and attendance and access control solution. This is exactly where Time & Attendance North East can put its experience to very good use.
