Plans approved for new trampoline park in Newcastle
Plans for transforming a vacant property on a Newcastle industrial estate into a job-creating trampoline park have been approved, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
The company behind the scheme, Funshack, launched its Jump 360 venture in Stockton in 2015 having previously opened a large-scale children’s play centre at Portrack Interchange Park.
As part of its expansion plans, the business submitted an application in December last year to transform three adjoining units at Benfield Business Park in Newcastle into a combination of its two flagship schemes on Teesside – representing an investment of £2.5m.
The 69,000 sq ft development would comprise a Jump 360 trampoline park and Indoor Adventure Playgound.
About 80 jobs would be created across the entire development.
"In addition to the clear employment benefits, it is also intended that facility will help the local community on a broader, more active level in a similar manner to Funshack’s existing facilities across the North East," said the company.
"The proposals will secure the long term active re-use of an industrial unit that has stood vacant for an extended period of time. [It would] undoubtedly enhance the town’s leisure offer and will encourage a greater proportion of locally generated leisure expenditure to be retained within the city."
