New industrial buildings gain planning approval in Team Valley Trading Estate
The former Npower base in Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead, has received planning approval for two new industrial buildings.
These two Eighth Avenue sites, which are known as Eighth Avenue East and Eighth Avenue West and total almost five acres of land, will be developed by UK Land Estates and will support a "significant number" of jobs upon completion.
Talks with potential tenants are currently underway, and planning consent for both sites has been granted by Gateshead Council.
Tim Witty, development director at UK Land Estates, said: "This is an exciting development that can be delivered within 15 months, and we’re hopeful of attracting occupiers to this prime location at the heart of the Team Valley.
"Team Valley is already an important industrial location and UK Land Estates has invested significantly in the estate to make sure it leads the market. The initial interest in these sites is encouraging and shows confidence in the regional economy.
"We’re pleased to be bringing new grade A industrial property to the area, cementing its reputation as a location that supports the growth of industry."
Team Valley is already home to approximately 700 businesses employing more than 20,000 people across a range of industries.

Moving into a new building is the perfect time to assess your current payroll system, specifically the way that you record employee attendance and their hours worked.
Many companies, even in today’s high-tech world, still use weekly paper timesheets to record employee working hours. These have more downsides than they have advantages.
For example, they are very easy for an unscrupulous employee to fake. If there is no way of monitoring their attendance apart from their own self-reporting, then they can easily put in overtime or prime time shifts that they didn’t actually do.
Even an honest employee could forget exact details and fudge an entry. Inaccurate working hours could put you at risk of breaching the European Working Time Regulations.
Another example is the incredible amount of processing time that timesheets can cost payroll staff. They need to transfer often illegible handwriting individually onto Excel spreadsheets in order to convert it into data they can deal with for payroll. One typo could completely change an employee’s payslip for that month.
