Manufacturing company expands facility, creates new jobs

A Queen’s Award-winning manufacturer is expanding its facility on North Tyneside in a move that will lead to the creation of up to 30 new jobs, a news source in the local business media has been able to reveal.

AIS’s technical division, AIS Technical, is increasing the size of its operation by moving into the 14,000 sq ft purpose-built site, which is located alongside AIS’s existing two-acre offshore training village and onsite hotel on the Tyne Tunnel Industrial Estate.

AIS Technical manufactures, exports and installs insulation and passive fire protection systems for the global offshore, energy, petrochemical and heavy industry sectors.

The new facility will be specially designed as a manufacturing and innovation centre for the company which will enable overall capacity to be increased by up to 80 per cent.

Chris Evans, head of AIS Technical, said the pace of growth at the company "has been phenomenal".

"We’ve set ourselves ambitious targets for the growth of AIS Technical over the next five years, including a big push into new territories in America and Brazil, leading to more new jobs and increased local investment."
