Energy consultancy company receives funding for new premises.
Electek Solutions, an engineering project design & management consultancy based in County Durham, has secured a £50,000 investment from the North East Small Loan Fund. This money has enabled the company to create new jobs and move into larger premises.
They design and install renewable energy-based systems for businesses, including LED lighting, solar and wind power systems, as well as giving advice on energy-saving initiatives. Their teams audit clients’ existing energy usage, develop plans to reduce their energy spend and carbon footprint, and put the plans into place from a practical and financial point of view.
The funding paid for the renovation of a derelict office and factory on the Hobson Industrial Estate near Burnopfield. Three jobs have been created since they have moved into the new building, and more new jobs are expected to be created later on in the year.
Director David Hutchinson, who founded ESL four years ago, said: "We’ve been able to take advantage of the move towards greater commercial use of renewable energy solutions over the last few years and have grown quickly as a result.
"Having outgrown our previous offices, we really needed to find bigger and better premises that would give us the room we needed to keep expanding, and we’re already feeling the benefit of having more room in which to work.
"As well as providing the capital we needed, the investment application process gave us the chance to review and enhance our own management and financial systems, and we’ve been able to make a number of improvements as a result."

Building your new premises from scratch is the perfect opportunity to install a new time and attendance system, since it enables you to control the wiring and the placements of doors and other useful factors.
Time and Attendance North East offers a contactless smartcard and biometric clocking terminal with clocking options ranging from smartcard only right up to 3 factor authentication of smartcard, PIN and biometrics. This hardware registers staff entrances and exits as they present their identification, and delivers the information to the central software in real-time. It is a quick and user-friendly process.
Our T34xx Series Biometric Fingerprint Reader is designed to give absolute peace of mind that the correct person was present when scanning. Once registered on the fingerprint scanner, the image of the patterns usually found on the fingertip is converted into a code through a secure algorithm, which is then stored on the time and attendance system database for future comparison and authentication.
