Contact centre company to create multiple new jobs in Newcastle

A Newcastle-based contact centre company has revealed plans to create multiple new jobs after receiving financial backing from a growth fund, a news report has found.

Echo-U, whose clients include the likes of Sage and Coral, has created 70 jobs after being backed by £290,000 of Let’s Grow funding.

The business, which was set up in 2001 and employs a workforce of 175, will eventually be used to recruit a total of 128 new employees, allowing it to tender for larger contracts.

The remaining 58 jobs are expected to be created by the end of this year.

Let’s Grow is administered by the BE Group in partnership with UNW, The Journal and the Evening Gazette, and supports SME growth and job creation in the North East.

Phil Sly, project adviser at BE Group, said: "Since receiving Let’s Grow funding, Echo-U has done a fantastic job of moving into a larger marketplace and positioning itself appropriately in order to win new business.

"When you consider the value of the grant alongside the number of jobs created, this has been a very worthy investment."
