Pharmaceutical manufacturer reveals ambitious expansion plans


A pharmaceutical products’ manufacturer based in Middleton, Teesdale, has revealed plans to increase its UK production capacity by 25 percent and also create a number of new jobs in the process, after securing a funding package from Barclays.
 
Classic Industries Europe Ltd designs and makes medical injection molded products. The company revealed plans to use the newly available funding for increasing actual production capacity and freeing up an additional 4,000 sq ft for storage.

Major retailer set to create 150 new jobs in North East


One of the UK’s largest home, garden and leisure retailers have revealed plans to open their third North East store later this year in a move that will create 150 jobs in Longbenton, a news report in the local business media was able to reveal.

The Range exchanged contracts for a 15-year lease on the unit at Whitley Road Retail and Leisure Park last year after the property’s owner entered administration. The Range will launch the 40,100 sq ft store in August, investing up to £1.8m in refitting the premises.

An Ashington-based oilfield manufacturing company has revealed plans to create 10 more jobs in the area after turnover is set to hit £2m in its first year of business.

Metalis was established in August 2013 and specializes in the manufacture of high pressure pipeline and wellhead components for the global oil and gas sector, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

Plans put forward for hospital housing scheme in Hartlepool


Plans put forward for building a residential development comprising 100 houses on land occupied by the University Hospital of Hartlepool are likely to be approved despite some strong opposition from members of the community.

Boro Taxis has a fleet of 700 taxis and has pledged its support to provide training for unemployed individuals, including a level 2 BTEC certificate in introduction of the role of the professional taxi and private hire driver.

1,100 new homes to be built in Hartlepool


Three new housing schemes comprising a total of 1,100 new homes have been given a conditional go-ahead by the local borough council.

The development on land at Wynyard Village will include 500 houses, a primary school, community facility and more than 5,300 sq ft of space for retail use. The scheme was approved subject to satisfactory comments from the environment agency and the secretary of state, a news report in the local media can reveal.
