IT consultancy moves into their brand new building in Aykley Heads Business Park
Waterstons, an IT consultancy founded in 1994, has moved its headquarters to a brand new office Aykley Heads Business Park in Durham.
The company currently employs 166 consultants, located in offices in Durham, Glasgow and London. They supply project management, transformation consulting and analytical services, checking that your technology is optimised for the performance of your business.
Last year (2018), Waterstons achieved a 64% increase in profits and a turnover of over £11.7m. In 2019, it intends to recruit a number of graduates, student placements and apprentices.
Their new office in Aykley Heads Business Park is designed to encourage more interaction between staff and enhance ‘task-based working’, with zoned work areas. GT3 Architects designed the premises, with help from Identity Consult, Project Interiors and members of Waterstons staff.
A plaque dedicated to members of the founding Waterstons family was unveiled at the opening of the office by the chief constable Durham Constabulary, Mike Barton.
Chief executive Susan Bell said: "We’ve come a long way since the formation of the company and we can feel very proud of our achievements over the last 25 years, reaching a turnover of over £11m and expanding our global client base.
"It’s extremely satisfying to be able to celebrate a quarter of a century in business with the official opening of our Durham HQ.
"The office is an embodiment of our collaborative culture which has helped to drive our success – empowering us to work together towards the common goals of growth, innovation and providing the best service for clients."

Moving into brand new premises is a time to congratulate yourself for your success, but it is also the time, particularly if you intend to expand your staff roster in the future, to double-check that your existing systems can handle the increase.
Since it’s what we’re good at, we’ll talk about your time and attendance management system – the way that you record employee attendance and hours. Obviously this kind of a system is useful in waged roles, and if your premises is production or retail based, you likely already have some kind of system to measure these factors.
However, we believe passionately that time and attendance system have their place in an office environment too. You might not need to know office staff hours to the minute, but our software and colourful graphical displays make it easy to record when they are late or ill, and to spot if there are any concerning patterns in their absences.
The Win.TA software also sends you useful alerts, such as if your team are exceptionally busy and risk breaching the European Working Time Regulations, or if someone is accidentally violating the minimum wage regulation.
Having your own purpose-built premises means that you can easily install physical clocking terminals in order to accurately measure your time and attendance. Ours work either with employee fingerprints, or with contactless radio-frequency smartcards.
