Fabrication company goes on recruitment drive

A fabrication company based in Newton Aycliffe has gone on a recruitment drive after winning a raft of new contracts, a news report in the local business media has been able to suggest. 

SCH Site Services has boosted staff numbers by ten after winning work with the likes of Sir Robert McAlpine on projects such as The Gates shopping centre in Durham, City Electrical Factors in Meadowfield and the Student Union buildings at Leeds University.

SCH Site Services’ managing director Gary Finley said that although he is still concerned about a skills shortage, he is pleased to have expanded the team.

"We experienced a slight dip in the middle of 2016 when, at our lowest point, we dropped to around 35 [staff], but now we’re up to the biggest number of employees we’ve had since the company was formed ten years ago," he added.

"The skills shortage remains very much a concern and we’re continually looking for skilled staff, both on site and in our fabrication team, but we’re certainly happy with the team we have together at the moment and we’re hopeful 2017 is going to be a positive year for us."

Finley said SCH was buoyed by a number of new enquiries towards the back end of 2016.
