Plans put forward for major housing development in Middlesbrough
A well-known residential developer has submitted plans for building up to 1,200 new homes on the site of a former hospital in Middlesbrough, a news report in the local media has been able to find.
The Hemlington Grange development has been proposed by Taylor Wimpey, with the application site – the former Old Hemlington Hospital – covering 118 acres.
The proposal is split into both a full and outline application. The overall development is expected to take between ten to 15 years to complete.
Phase one of the project is to build 124 homes comprising a mix of two-, three- and four-bed terraced, semi-detached and detached properties, while phase two represents the bulk of the scheme and is in an outline format. It is to build up to 1,106 homes.
The scheme would boost the housing supply in the area to meet the needs of both present and future generations, and has been deemed a "much needed" development. Also, every £1m of new house building output would support 12 jobs each year.
Development projects of this type typically involve a fairly large number of contractors and sub-contractors, and this is specifically the reason why any construction company that will take on the task of carrying out the works should either have in place or implement a solid and reliable time and attendance and access control solution. This is exactly where Time & Attendance North East can put its experience to very good use.
