Engineering company to expand following investment

A Morpeth-based engineering company has doubled the size of its factory and created multiple new jobs after securing the necessary funding as part of a major investment programme, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.

Clifton Engineering has secured a £625,000 investment that will enable it to extend its Coopies Lane Industrial Estate factory to create 17,000 sq ft of production space. The firm currently employs a team of 35 which is set to grow to 44 with the new appointments as part of the £625,000 investment.

Clifton Engineering was set up in 1993 and turnover is set to grow to £4m in the coming year. The company has a full order book including exports to USA, Canada and Germany, but is continuing to look for new opportunities in the oil and gas, medical, aerospace and nuclear industries.

Andrew Pearson, managing director of Clifton Engineering, said the factory extension was "much needed" after it outgrew its existing base but wanted to stay in Morpeth.
