New jobs created by Ashington oilfield equipment manufacturer

An Ashington-based oilfield manufacturing company has revealed plans to create 10 more jobs in the area after turnover is set to hit £2m in its first year of business.

Metalis was established in August 2013 and specializes in the manufacture of high pressure pipeline and wellhead components for the global oil and gas sector, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

The company plans to create the new roles using funding from Northumberland’s Arch business growth programme. It also received £125,000 from Arch to install CNC machinery at its Ashwood Business Park base.

Paul McCreton, founder of Metalis, said: "Northumberland is the perfect place for us to be based as it has a great tradition of heavy engineering skills and business space is relatively inexpensive. With the Arch support I am confident I can exploit the terrific opportunities there are in the offshore oil and gas sector at present. Arch’s grant has enabled my business to take a great leap forward.”
