Plans put forward for hospital housing scheme in Hartlepool
Plans put forward for building a residential development comprising 100 houses on land occupied by the University Hospital of Hartlepool are likely to be approved despite some strong opposition from members of the community.
The original scheme for the 8.1 acre site, which lies to the east of the Holdforth Road hospital, was lodged by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and subsequently approved in September 2010, a news report in the local business media has revealed.
Nevertheless, the trust said it has no plans to build on the site but the permission will make it easier to market.
Despite receiving nine complaints regarding this scheme, planning officers have recommended its approval subject to a section 106 agreement, which includes a £280,000 contribution towards green infrastructure, highway improvements and educational facilities.
Development projects of this type typically involve a large number of contractors and sub-contractors, and this is specifically the reason why any construction company that will take on the task of carrying out the works should either have in place or implement a solid and reliable time and attendance and access control solution.
